Search engine optimization is breaking out of the tried and tested methods and newer methods are getting evolved everywhere. The introduction of Google filters has further strengthened the resolve of SEO professionals worldwide and this is just the reason why you need an SEO forum.
For those who are unaware, a forum is another name for a discussion board. It allows users from all around the web to interact with each other and discuss newer strategies. The best thing about forums is that once information is posted, it stays posted for months to come. This means that an active discussion can be started on that topic almost anytime.
I was not very sure about advantages of an SEO forum. But when I came across, a discussion about overriding the google sandbox, I participated. At the end of the discussion, I got a new method to counter the effects of the google sandbox filter from an SEO expert in Hong Kong.
A healthy discussion
Apart from giving you an avenue to look into new SEO strategies, an SEO forum will also generate a steady flow of traffic into your website.
Most visitors will come back to know what's happening on the topic they posted. You will also get to create a database of the best posters on your website.
If your SEO forum is amongst the most discussed ones on the internet, then it increases your credibility as a webmaster. You can build long term sustainable relationships with your visitors. Over a period of time, your website will turn into a sticky website that users keep visiting again and again.
There's work to be done
Having discussed all the advantages of having an SEO forum, let me also add that creating an SEO forum is not an easy task at all. There is a lot of work involved in moderating the posts and ensuring that spam posts or advertisements are not posted.

Some of the most famous and ethical SEO tricks are listed below:
• The title tag is the most powerful SEO trick, but it must be used creatively. You should only place one thing in the title tag and that is the exact keyword you used for the web page that you are trying to optimize.
• One of the most famous SEO trick is link popularity. It is because of the fact that most search engines don't consider web sites that do not have links pointing to the web site. So, it is really important to link to other resources that are related to your website's niche. This will increase traffic, provide good ranking and add value to your website.
• It is very important to use a different title on each web page with its own primary keywords at the beginning of the page title.
• Always remember, keyword density is very important in SEO and should be properly researched. The keywords should be used once in the title tag, heading tag, and in the body text while keeping the keyword density between 5% to 20%
• Another important SEO trick is to get your keywords in much of the anchor text in both internal and external links.
• It is wise to build a website that is rich in theme because search engines are now more interested in the themes.
• You should build content related to your niche with around 250 words per page because the speed of your web page is very important to your visitors and the search engines.
• Always remember to add fresh and unique content on regular basis which attracts the visitor to come back to your website.
• Don't forget to add a site map. It will help structure your site for spiders.
• Submitting articles with links to your web site to directories is yet another famous SEO trick that can really boost the amount of traffic you generate while also giving click through traffic, too.
• Also, don't forget to submit articles with your web site link to the publishers. Do not hope that they will pick your article up from a directory. It is better to submit directly to the publishers themselves.
• Another SEO trick is to seek forums related to your niche, join them and advertise your web site there.
• And, last but not the least. Another famous SEO trick is to submit your web site to the directories "including" the PR0 directories.
Okay, so it was some of the most famous SEO tricks that can really help you to optimize your search engine results and put you on the path toward higher search engine rankings. But for that, it is really IMPORTANT that you follow them correctly.

The Importance of Title Tags for Search Engine Optimization
Posted by Blogger Blogging Tips at 8:48 AMAs a Website Development and Internet Marketing Company, a major focus of ours when developing our client's websites is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) of the website's web pages. The first and foremost important thing for SEO is your website's Title Tags.
If a website does not have Title Tags that properly define its pages then it will be extremely difficult to receive a good ranking in the search engines. There are many reasons why Title Tags are so important - the following will define Title Tags and outline the importance of their use for Search Engine Optimization.
What is a Title Tag?
A Title Tag is a small piece of code that goes into the header of every web page. If you're familiar with the code of your pages, then the Title Tag are the words between the sections. Whatever is entered here will display on the top of the browser window when a user is viewing that page. This helps to let your viewers know what that page is all about.
A Title Tag is also utilized by the search engine. The search engine will take these words and use it when indexing the page in their search directory. These words will act as a hyperlink in the search results and will link the user to that particular page of the website.
If you do a search in Google for Professional Website Development what do you see? You see a listing of millions of pages all about "Professional Website Development". In the search results you will notice that the top listings all have those words highlighted and if you click the link you will be directed to that company's web page.
What is the Importance of Title Tags for Search Engine Optimization?
Because the search engines use the Title Tag to list the page in their search engine, this is what they use to understand the content that's on that page. If you have descriptive Title Tags for your various pages then you will have a better chance than if you just had generic Titles listed because you will be giving the search engines the topics for your various pages.
Let's take an example:
Let's say your homepage had a Title Tag like the following: . What benefit does that have for SEO? Absolutely none! No person will ever search for "Welcome to our Website" in the search engines because it is way too generic.
To the search engine this is invaluable information and would not help define what your company or that web page is all about.
How do you fix this?
It's really not that complicated. For example purposes, let's say your company is an Internet Marketing Company. Let's update our Title Tag to say . Now this has value! To the search engine this truly defines what your company is all about and what content is on your web page. If someone now does a search for "Internet Marketing and SEO Company" you have a better chance of being displayed in the search engine for that search.
One thing to remember is that when you are updating your Title Tags, it's important to update the Title Tag for every single website to ensure that they all relate to that content that's on that particular page. If all of your web page's Title Tags are the same, then the search engines will basically see this as one page. But if you have different Title Tags for every page, then the search engines will index your pages accordingly.
What are the next steps?
Here's what I recommend. I recommend first to define the various keywords and phrases that are important to your business. This will help you determine the keywords that should be listed in your Title Tags. After outlining your keywords, now spend the time going through the pages of your website and update the Title Tags for every page. When doing this, pay close attention to the content that's on that page. Make sure that the Title Tags properly reflex the page content. You do not want to improperly use keywords and phrases that do not correctly reflect the page content... this will not do you any good!
When doing this, ensure that the keywords you use in your Title Tags are also used in the content of that page. As you're going through, you may also want to update your page content to make sure you're properly using the keywords and phrases that you've outlined above. If you're updating your content during this process, this is a great sign. Updating your content to reflect your main keywords and Title Tags is one step closer to having a website that is properly optimized for the search engines.
Monitor your results
After doing this for every page of your website, it's now time to monitor your results and see if the changes you've made are successful. Give it some time because it takes some time for your pages to be indexed in the various search engines. There are ways to speed up the indexing process to a matter of days using an automated sitemap submission but if you do not use one of these methods then you must allow at least 2 months for the new content to become indexed.
Also check and monitor your website statistics. Check the traffic and monitor the keyword search terms that are now being searched. Are you noticing the new terms that you've updated in your Title Tags and content being searched? If so great! If not, then you need to re-evaluate your terms and make sure you're using terms that users looking for your type of company will type into the search engines.
If you effectively apply these steps to your Title Tags then I'm confident you will start to see an improvement in website traffic. This is just the tip of the iceberg for SEO but it's one of the first and most important things to do to optimize your web pages and let the search engines know what you're pages are all about.

Search Engine Optimization. A lot of people are clamoring to know exactly what it is. SEO is the process of enhancing the presence and visibility of a website on search engine listings. Not only is it a process, it is about the tool required to make the enhancement happen. There are two main types of search engine optimization:
*On page Optimization
*Off Page Optimization
When SEO was in its infancy, getting back links to a site was the most important factor. In fact, many books and articles written on the subject will still tell people that getting back links is the only proper way to optimize a website. Back links with proper anchor text, of course.
After search engine optimization has a chance to mature, SEO specialists became aware that using only back links is not at all the best way to optimize a site. In fact, if an SEO is only creating back links, the site is not getting optimized.
In On page site optimization, there are techniques and tools that are related to your own website and in OFF page optimization, there are items which are related to the other websites. In On page the old technique was Meta Tag Optimization, appropriate content, Alt tag optimization, proper navigation for the website and much more activities through which changes were made to the website, itself. In OFF page optimization, only back links were created.
Today, optimization is a little bit different. While using the old techniques are still appropriate, creating a Sitemap can be added to the list. Sitemap is something that came in existence a few years ago.
A Sitemap is a graphical representation of the architecture of a website. There are two kinds of site maps. The first is used to assist visitors to a site to navigate the site and the second is done in XML. XML Sitemaps--usually called Sitemap with a capital 'S'--are used by Goggle to gather information about the site.
Sitemap is especially important if your site:
* Has dynamic content
* Has pages with a lot of flash or AJAX
* Is new and does not have many links
* Has a lot of archived pages that are not linked well, or not at all
The use of Sitemap becomes doubly important if the site has pages that can only be accessed through user entry. Sitemap will assist web crawlers in finding and accessing the pages.
Google has a very nice Sitemap tool that will assist in the creation of Sitemap for a website.

What is SEO?
SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the name given to the process of making a website achieve high ranking in search engine queries. The most popular search engine by a long margin (60% of all searches worldwide) is Google, and so most effort is put towards optimizing for that website.
How to implement it
SEO is founded on good web design that consists of accessible and efficient code. Words or phases should be researched using online keyword popularity tools such as Overture and WordTracker to determine which keywords should be used in the text of your website. The ideal scenario is to find a keyword or phrase, or set of keywords or phrases that are frequently searched for, but are not found on many websites. Obviously, very popular searches will have many websites focussed on these keywords.
However, SEO is not only limited to keywords. Perhaps even more important is the PageRank factor. PageRank is a Google-created attribute that reflects a page's importance: the higher the PageRank (out of 10), the greater authority and importance your website has, and normally, this is reflected in your ranking on search engines. How PageRank is determined is a closely guarded secret (by Google), but it an important factor is the number of links from other websites to yours. The greater the number of links from high PageRanked websites, the higher your PageRank will be, and the better you will rank in searches.
The Long Tail
A Long Tail when applied to SEO is a term used to describe niche areas that in total receive greater interest or traffic than mainstream areas. For example, "books" is a very popular search term, whereas "antique art books" is much less popular. However, if you can optimize your website for those search terms, although you will not have as many people searching for the term, you are much more likely to be one of the top results returned. Furthermore, and most importantly, the people that have found your website are much more likely to be interested in your content, than if they were just searching for books. The Long Tail effect enables smaller specialist websites to survive and thrive, and it is important to consider when choosing your keywords.
When should you do SEO?
It is best to start SEO before you write the content of the website. This way you can ensure the keywords you have targeted are well incorporated into your text, in prominent positions, such as page titles, near the top of your page content, in headers, and emphasized in bold or in italics. However, if your website has already been made without considering SEO, you can still go back and make editions to the website content and design if necessary.
What you should not do
With the growing importance of search engines on the Internet as a method of finding information, SEO has become big business. There are now thousands of specialized businesses offering SEO alone, many making bold promises such as a guarantee of a top 10 rank in Google. Approach such offers with care, as you may be paying for a top 10 rank in a search phrase that receives no traffic at all!
You must also be exceptionally careful not to try and trick search engines. There are a huge number of dirty tricks that can be done to try and increase your ranking on searches, such as websites filled with thousands of links linking to yours. It is possible that such schemes may bring you temporary success, but it is almost guaranteed that your trickery will be found out, and then you can expect to be stripped of your rank, and possibly banned for good from the search engines. This is a risk that will not pay off.
Best practice
While SEO is essential to consider when trying to get a top-ranking site, if you have a website filled with quality content, and you are able to promote it so that other websites link to it, this is arguably the most important strategy you can employ. Although assorted SEO strategies and fads come and go, if you are producing good quality text that is useful, you are already giving your website a headstart. "Content is King" is the catchphrase coined to illustrate the importance of this.

Getting into any type of business requires some type of capital. To make money requires money as well but it does not necessarily have to be your money. You can use what most refer to as OPM, other people's money. However, with the versatility the internet offers, there are many ways you can optimize the potential of your site or business in generating traffic. The money generate from that monetized site can be used to fund your business.
While there are ways to jumpstart your traffic flows, many sites don't have the resources that either well established or knowledgeable marketers know to generate more traffic for your site. Well, you don't have to spend a cent; all you need is the proper mindset and a lot of eagerness. You also must have the drive and perseverance work smart and research to generate more traffic for your site. Notice I did not say work hard. My feeling is that if you are passionate about your business, hobby, or whatever, doing what it takes to see it succeed is not considered work in the general meaning of the word.
How sweet it is to have more traffic for your site without spending a single cent. Now it's a sure thing that many sites have articles that offer tips and guidelines in how to generate traffic using only free methods. To be honest, because you can generate traffic for free, it is going to take some time to see the fruits of your labor. Of course your chances are better and almost instant by paying for your advertisements, but at least you get a fighting chance with some of these free methods I'm about to tell you.
Free traffic tip number one: Take advantage of online forums and online communities. The great thing about forums and online communities are that you can target a certain group that fits the certain demographic that you are looking for. You can discuss about lots of things relating to the niche that you represent or are interested in. Another great advantage is that you know what you are getting into and you will be prepared.
With online communities and forums you can build a reputation for your company. Show them what you are made of and wow them with your range of expertise about the subject. Your knowledge display will instantly make you the subject matter expert. You automatically start building a reputation and trust with the people you are interacting with.
Free traffic tip number two: You can also make use of newsletters by providing a catalog of your products and interesting and entertaining articles. If you make it really interesting and entertaining, more people will sign up for your newsletter and recommend it to other people. The more people who signs up for your newsletter, the more people there will be that will go to your site increasing your traffic.
Free traffic tip number three: Link trading with other sites. You don't have to spend a cent. All you have to do is reach an agreement with another webmaster. Both sites can benefit from such an agreement. Every visitor that goes to the linked site could potentially bring traffic to the linking site thereby increasing your traffic. This works well especially when both sites feature the same niche.
Free traffic tip number four: Write articles that entertain or educate people that have interest in your product or niche. Try writing articles that will provide tips and guides to other aficionados. Writing articles that provide good content to others will not only provide readership, but backlinks to your site. If your articles are compelling enough, you will have people wanting to know more and follow your link back to your site. So, include a link or a brief description of your company with the article.
Write good content for your site. Search engines algorithms track down the keywords and keyword phrases your site uses and how they are used. It is not a requirement that content should be posted by a professional writer. You could your own content but it must be of value that is entertaining as well as informational.
All of these methods as well as others can be used to drive more traffic to your site for free. All it takes is a bit of effort and extended man hours. Learn all you can about the methods depicted here and you will soon have a site with a great traffic flow without paying monetarily for it.
This article is going to show you, how to get free traffic to your site with powerful and easy to implement strategies for driving massive amounts of well-targeted traffic to your site. Traffic that will make you money. Getting traffic to your site is critical if you want to make money online. However, the wrong traffic won't produce any sales. You need niche-targeted traffic; people who are highly interested in your product or service. If they aren't, they definitely won't buy what you have to offer. Here three (3) free methods I use.
The first method is article marketing. You've probably heard a lot about this. Everyone seems to be writing articles to drive traffic. Ever wonder why? It's because it works. If done properly article marketing can be one the fastest free ways to drive traffic. How else can you get yourself to the first page of Google in a week? Basically, you write articles about the niche you're in. Then, you distribute the articles to ezines. People read the articles. At the end of the article you're allowed to have an author's box. In this you write up a benefit rich reason for clicking through to your website. Many people will take you up on the benefits you present and click. You now have targeted traffic crawling around your site. The more articles you write the more traffic you'll get. A tip with writing articles, which will get them on the front page of search results, is keyword optimizing the title. For example, if you want to bring people who type in acne treatment to your site, title your article: Ultimate acne treatment: an undiscovered acne treatment that clears zits in no time
My second method is, forum marketing. This is also a good way to drive traffic. Go to forums that directly relate to your niche and register. Most forums allow a personal box that shows up under your posts. It's very similar to the author's box in an article. You use the same strategy of enticing people to click through to your site. Search the forum answering tough questions and providing good answers to peoples' problems. Every post you make is a seed for interested traffic. It's only a matter of time before your enticing message gathers attention.
Third is, blog marketing. This is a little used strategy that provides good results when done properly. Go to blogs related to your market. You can find blogs for your niche by typing in Your Niche then the word blog. Find blogs that have a good readership. Make posts that relate to topic and add value. Near the end of your post, slyly mention that you have a site with significant amounts of information on the subject being discussed and include a back link to your site. Do not be pitchy or hype-filled. You want this to be subtle. Just a small nudge towards your site is all you're looking for. People then click through if their interested. This will also count as a back link to your site which increases search rankings.
Employ all the strategies outlined here on a regular basis and you'll be able to drive lots of targeted traffic, making many sales. What more could you ask for? All the free traffic you want with minimal time and effort. That's the power these strategies will provide you with. Act on what you've learned and you'll see just how easy it is.
Well, the foregoing is simple and easy to do. They may require some of your time, creative thinking, and due diligence. However, when you consistently apply these three (3) ideas to your sites traffic generation program, you should see results.

We all understand that every owner of a website wants to build traffic. When it comes to building traffic it can be done in any number of ways. The most used and basic of the methods for building traffic is by building links pointing to your website.
These links are the invaluable votes that lead traffic to your website. The traffic generated from these backlinks are where you receive the quality, targeted visitors. There are many programs and scripts available that will promise you 10,000 hits per day or more. The only way scripts such as these will do you any good are if you are getting paid per hit. To build quality and targeted traffic to your site you need to build it steadily and do this by attracting the visitors that are interested in what you have to offer.
The backlinks you need can be generated using several techniques. Submitting your website to quality web directories is a good way for generating relevant links to your site to increase traffic. Another way it by writing and submitting articles to article directories. By placing a link back to your website in the resource box this can build backlinks. Occasionally someone will scan an article directory looking for information and click on the link back to your website to find out more about the topic or the author. If your article gets used by other websites or ezines you will begin to see traffic increase.
There is an additional way that can be effective for building traffic to your site and that is by posting in forums related to your niche. Make use of the signature line in your forum posts to include a link back to your site. Forum members will read quality posts and readily click the signature links back to your site to see if there is additional information there. Forums do provide a platform for building relevant traffic to your site.
It is also possible to build traffic using link and banner exchanges. When you put a link to their site they will reciprocate by placing a link back to yours. With sites that are relevant to each other's niche you will be sending targeted traffic back and forth.
There are also ways to promote your business offline such as business cards with the name of your business, logo and a web address. These offline marketing tools can lead people to your site to see what it has to offer. Perhaps an ad in a magazine or newspaper could be a way of generating interest in your website.
There are affiliate programs that can also assist you in generating traffic to your website. By using affiliate resources such as Clickbank you can get others to promote your site, the products and services it offers to drive additional traffic and prospects to your website.
Backlinks to your website is the most effective way of generating traffic. It brings in visitors that are interested in what your website has to offer. That means when they arrive on site they will be more inclined to use your services or purchase your products. Those are the ideal visitors to have.
Increase your Websites online presence today by getting listed on The Authority Business Directory. Plus, don't forget to submit link for inclusion while you are visiting.

Website optimization is the process of improving the visibility of a website in the Search Engine Result Page (SERP). Website optimization, better known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO), adheres to the basic principle of giving content-based relevance to a website among the pool of websites.
Optimizing a website involves a series of processes by which the website acquires proper indexing in the database of the search engines, and thus gets ranked to the topmost position in the SERP.
Meta Tags are one of the methods used in optimizing the web page. Though not common nowadays in many of the search engines, Meta Tags still are used in the search process by certain search engines. Meta Tags are mainly used to display the brief description of a web page after the search result. Proper use of Meta Tags, thus will improve the optimization of the website.
The keyword as well as the content of the website is of prime importance to the optimization of the website. Each page should have at least 200 words with at least 4-5 repetitions of the keywords in it in proper logical order. The keyword density (number of keywords/word count) has to be in compliance with the search engine criteria. Illogical repetitions of the keywords, thus, will have a negative impact on the optimization. It is better to include one keyword in one paragraph, following the logical sequence of the matter.
Hyperlinks can improve the performance of the website. Having more relevant text links in a website enables the search engines to tag them according to the text contained in the links. It is therefore important to include the text links that have used the keywords in the link title and the related description.
Connected links enhance the page ranking. There are various partner programs available to direct other website to yours. If your website is identified as the best redirected website, it improves the page ranking of your website. If the directing websites are popular, there are more chances to improve your page ranking. However, make sure that you adhere to the search engine criteria for the same. For example, if all links from a number of websites are directing to a single page of your website, irrespective of the inappropriate content in the page, it will be assumed as ’spam’ and ignored by the search engine.
There are certain contents that are hostile to the search engine crawlers. These include the JavaScript navigators, Flash images, Forms, and Dynamic URLs. The search engines do not identify JavaScript and Flash navigations. Therefore pages that contain these features should not be given for optimization. However, in inevitable situations, you may use them by adding appropriate Meta Tags and text contents.
Pages containing Dynamic URLs and Forms face the same problems. A form page or a dynamic page, is therefore, not recommended for website optimization. However, the problem with the frames can be solved to an extent by including a ‘no-frame’ section in the frameset. Try to include the Meta Tags and maximum number of hyperlinks that will help the page to get indexed even in the presence of a form in it.
Though it is difficult to get an excellent rank in the Search Engines, you may achieve a decent result by following these thumb rules.

Overture or as it is now known "Yahoo" was the original inventor of the P4P or Pay for Performance principle. Overture noticed that the internet was quickly becoming the easiest and most suitable method to shop and advertising would be at an all time high because of the numerous businesses in the field attracting website visitors.
To get a visitor to visit your website rather than other websites, it must be very noticeable. Placing ads that will direct possible customers to your site will assist in an increase in hits to your site as well as improving your sales. Yahoo offers a service that places a company's ad or sites in their sites that will be shown when accurate keywords are entered.
Yahoo's offer helps to increase traffic by making more people aware by allowing them to view your site and your products. So even with a minimal percentage of successful sales, this could lead to substantial increase in your sales figures for your company.
Receiving a considerable and consistent flow of website hits is every company's objective. Website visitors are potentially the life line of your internet based business.
Yahoo/Overture use the same standards as Google's Adwords. They are alike in that they use keywords or keyword phrases to establish which ads to show per search. The search engine will provide the results in a page. On the right hand side of the page, you'll notice selected ads that have paid for their ads to be seen when certain keywords or keyword phrases are used.
Let's say for example you run a car parts retailer wholesale website. You would need to select keywords like Honda Accord that will trigger or prompt your ads to be viewed in the page when the keyword is entered.
You will be expected to pay for using this service. There are various ways Yahoo/Overture can charge you. It could be per the number of Keywords or Keyword phrases your ad uses or how many times your ad is clicked on. Other offers could be having your ad viewed in other third party websites.
It's a marketing tactic that will boost your website visitors, increasing sales and resulting in profit, which inturn makes your investment to advertise a wise one.

It will surely help your business if you know how to go around this great marketing tool that does not cost a lot and only takes some time and effort to conduct. Here are four useful considerations for better search engine optimization:
1. Find out the most searched keyword that is related to the product or service that you offer. You will also need several other back up yet equally in demand keywords. In order to do this, you will need to use a keyword analyzer program - it will only cost you a couple of bucks, and it will be worth it. Better yet, borrow one from a fellow business owner.
2. When it comes to writing your content, remember to stick to the topic. Sprinkle relevant keywords but make sure that you maintain a smooth flow of words. If you have irrelevant content or badly written content, search engines are likely to boot you to the end of the rankings line.
3. Utilize error marketing to make your web site spic and span. Articles that are well written will click with audiences, impressing them with your polished writing skills and convincing them to try out you product without seeming like a hard sell. If your articles are unedited and lack smooth transition, people will think you are unprofessional.
4. Your most searched keywords must be present within the first two or three sentences of your content. The first part of your text will be displayed in search ranking page, and you need to make sure that the information people want can already be reflected on it.

Blogs have become one of the most effective Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies. The number of blog sites spawning on a day-to-day basis is a clear indication of their relevance in the present Internet communication.
A blog can play an important role in optimizing the website. Contrary to the earlier concepts, the new-generation blogs have got a lot of varied functions. Earlier, blogs were considered as a means of expressing one’s opinion or exchange ideas, most often done in a causal way. But the recent changes that happened in the online communication have redefined the blogs as an effective tool of communication among a varied group of customers, businesses, and every individual under the earth.
If effective blogs are created in a website, it can be identified by the search engines for their content value, and thus can be optimized for its contents. Thus blogs complement the contents of the website. The advantage of creating a blog is that even if the website pages do not qualify the search engine requirements in terms of the content quality, it can get better optimization with the help of blogs that have rich contents in them. This is mostly applicable to e-commerce websites, dealer websites, or the similar ones. In such websites, the visitors to the website will find the blogs useful to them as they share many aspects of the products or services and thus gain better idea of the products or services.
To create SEO-friendly blogs, one has to take care of the following aspects.
• Relevant content
• Appropriate title
• Proper links
Content
Blogs have got two functions to perform – firstly, it should improve the optimization, and secondly, it should attract prospective visitors to the website. Both these functions can be achieved only if it is provided with appropriate contents. The search engine identifies the website mainly through the keywords used in it. This rule is applicable to blogs too. The blog, therefore, should contain appropriate number of keywords per total word count (keyword density). It is appropriate to have an optimal keyword density, say around 20%. If the keyword density is less than 5%, the blog will not be identified for the particular keyword indexing; on the other hand, if the keyword density is more than 20%, the website will be ignored for being ’spam’.
The relevance of the content is another important factor, not only for the SEO purposes, but also for the business purpose. The information that you convey through the blogs should be effective and useful to the customers. It should not merely aim at SEO and thus focus only on the keywords.
Title
The title is the identification code of the blog. Therefore, the title of the blog has to be named on the primary keyword/phrase. It would enable the search engines to trap them easily.
Links
To reach to a blog, there should be proper links to it. The website should have outbound links to the blog; in return, the blog sites should contain links that direct them to the relevant website. This link exchange is another important method of improving the traffic of the website.
SEO-friendly blogs improve the traffic to the website, and it also attracts the viewers to it. The role of blogs in website marketing will continue to remain relevant for a very long time

On-page optimization refers to the optimization techniques that are applied on the website pages, while off-page optimization refers to those methods applied outside it. Both techniques have their own relevance in the search engine results.
On-Page Optimization (On-page SEO)
On-page SEO main aspects/methods.
• Hyperlink Title Tags
• Meta Tags
• Header (H1) Tags
• Formating Tags
• Keywords
• Content
• URLs
• Outgoing Links
• ALT images
Dos and Don’ts for On-Page Optimization
• Use the keywords only once in the hyperlink and alt-image tags
• Overall key density in the text content should be between 10 and 20%, with primary keyword density about 5-6% and secondary key word density about 2-3%.
• H1 tags should contain the primary keywords. The priority of the keyword should be according to the sequence of the heading.
• Bold all the keywords in their first appearance, and apply repeat bolding only for the primary keyword in its last occurrence.
• Position the primary keywords in the first and the last paragraphs, if possible, in the first line of the paras.
• Use single-word keywords. They perform better than split keywords.
• Do not use duplicate contents or hidden contents (texts or links with the same color as that of the background)
• Avoid cloaking (a process by which a user is redirected to a different page from an original page directed by the search engine)
• Avoid intensive use of flash and javascript to convey important content as spiders will not be able to decipher these content.
• Avoid pages that require authentication as this would make the page not crawlable by Search Engine’s spiders.
Search engines will penalize the websites that are involved in unethical practices such as cloaking and duplicating either by reducing their ranking or by eliminating the website from their index. It is therefore necessary to follow the guidelines set by the search engines strictly.
Off-Page Optimization
Off-page optimization refers to the process of improving the performance of the website by off-page practices such as
• Keyword research
• Encouraging in-bound links from high ranking sites
• Use of different keywords in the referred links
• Tracking the traffic
Dos and Don’ts for Off-Page Optimization
• Encourage the incoming links by partnering with websites with better page ranking.
• Avoid link farming. Link farming is a method of including hundreds of outbound links in a website. This practice of link exchanges has been developed into an unhealthy SEO method, and so the search engines identify this process as non-ethical and reduces your page ranking.
• Do not direct the incoming links to pages that have no relevant data for the link.
• Do not direct multiple incoming links to a single page.
• Do not duplicate keywords in the inbound links.
• Do not use hidden inbound links.
• Conduct a survey on the success of the keyword/phrase.
• Make a list of new keywords and test their effectiveness with the similar websites.
• Make necessary changes in the keyword if the old keyword does not find better effects
On-page and off-page optimization finds much relevance in the context of SEO. Off-line SEO, however, involves a tedious process of maintaining a smooth traffic to your website. A regular research has to be carried out on the performance of your website. Always remember that a wrong SEO method will have a negative impact on your website

Social bookmarking is one of the modern approaches to improve Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The social bookmarking sites help to gain one-way links to a website and thus improve the optimization of the websites.
Incoming links offer a lot of scope for website optimization. As opposed to the reciprocal linking method, one-way linking benefits the websites a lot. In fact, Google penalizes the websites if they contain more reciprocal links by calling it link farm. This may be applicable to popular websites that have got link exchanges with other popular websites. In short, too much link exchange invites risk for the websites.
The social bookmarking is a boon to websites as it helps the websites to gain one-way links free of cost and without exchanging anything in return to the websites. It is an organic method of website optimization, and it does not have any threats from any search engines.
Let us analyze how the social bookmarking sites work. There are a number of social bookmarking sites, the most popular among them are the del.icio.us, ma.gnolia.com, simpy.com, etc. The first step to join them is to sign up and install their bookmarking icons on your browser. After installing them, bookmark the webpages of your website that you need to get bookmarked. Ideally, webmasters include links to all the pages of their websites in the bookmarking sites. Thus you will be able to create URLs in the bookmarking sites that contain the links to all your website pages.
Once the URLs are created in the bookmarking sites, submit them to major search engines including Google, Yahoo, and MSN. You may place then place links to those URLs from your website or from other websites such as the blog sites. You may use the article directory service in which you will submit hundreds of articles where you will add these links.
When the search engines index these URLs from the social bookmarking sites, naturally, the page ranking of your website will get increased. Additionally, the incoming links from the other sites such as the blog sites or article directories will accelerate the process of page ranking of your website.
It is not easy to define the exact process how the search engines rank the websites. Different search engines have different algorithm, and the method acceptable to one may not be relevant to the other. However, it has been found that the effect produced by the social bookmarking of a webpage, doe not, in any way decelerate the traffic to the website.
Social bookmarking thus allows the websites to create one-way links to it. The one-way links, as opposed to the reciprocal links, are acceptable to all search engines. Reciprocal links that were once acceptable by Google has now been discarded as the mere gimmicks to attract the search engine spiders.
The social bookmarking sites are becoming popular because of their enriched contents. Thus the websites that have got links to these sites will benefit from their popularity.

If you have ever believed that blog is all about pouring out all your bad emotions which otherwise would not be heard, you are wrong. The word ‘blog’ is the new mantra for the Search Engine Optimization (SEO), the most talked-about three letters among the web community. The single word ‘blog’ has encircled the whole globe and now the Internet has got a new name ‘blogosphere’.
Why are blogs so important in SEO? Everyone now is aware of the fact that SEO techniques value contents more than anything else. What is the relevance of blogs in such a context? Why cannot we include the contents in the main page itself, rather than providing it an additional space under the pseudo tag ‘blogs’?
Search engine algorithms have specific criteria in ranking a website. There comes the importance of keyword density. If a website has sparingly distributed keywords, it will not be identified for SEO. On the other hand, if it contains more than a specific number of keywords in it, it would be ignored as being spam. Thus it is difficult to maintain a website meeting both the criteria always.
The solution to this problem was to renew the contents of the website on a regular basis, by analyzing the trends of the search engines and the hits on the website. Modifying the content could bring some results, as the search engines started identifying them for varied and rich contents. However, the cumbersome task of getting more and more pages added and replacing the old pages with the new became a head-ache for the web professionals. Another issue associated with this solution was that the content-rich pages failed to appeal the users. The most popular websites, such as the product description sites and the e-commerce sites, failed to attract their viewers because of the elaborate contents in them.
This problem has been identified by the webmasters, and blogs have been chosen as the solution for it. Blogs provide the necessary contents for the search engines, and at the same time, it maintains the attractiveness of the website without crowding it with too much contents. Thus the purpose of SEO as well as the fruitful user hits is met.
Blogs have become an imperative marketing strategy for online communication. Its importance in website functioning cannot be ruled out. Therefore, while creating a blog, the following aspects have to be addressed properly.
• Proper use of keywords
• Use of RSS and feed buttons
• Adding the blog title as the permalink
• Adding the blog to directories
• Link building
• Comments
• Offsite tracking
The blog title should contain the keyword/phrase in it. Also the blog URL should contain the same keyword/phrase. There should be proper links to and from the blog to the website.
There is a lot of difference between an article and blog. An article is a descriptive content on a product, whereas a blog is ideally an analytical content. Therefore, it is better to avoid the practice of adding an article in the blog space. Rather, one should create a blog that is brief, conversational, and interesting. It should contain the opinion from the customers rather than the details of the products or services.
